Ski and Snowboard Personal Gear

Whichever activity you choose, you want to be sure to have the essentials for skiing and snowboarding to ensure you have an excellent day out on the hill! Grab your ski boots, or snowboard boots and find the right ski pants and waterproof ski jacket that will offer good protection from the wind and snow. An insulated jacket will keep you warm while shielding you from the elements. Check that your skis and/or snowboard are in good condition and ready for run after run once you hit the ski resort. Bring your ski bag and ski boot bag to store your skis and boots as you travel. You'll also want to pack comfortable snow boots to wear after your day on the slopes.

Clothing

The key word here? Layers, layers, layers! By layering up, you can retain your natural body heat and you also help to keep the moisture off your skin when your body does heat up as you move. Merino wool is a great option as it has natural fibres that wick away moisture and keep you warm, while skipping odour retention - which is always a good thing! Depending on the weather, start with a good base layer and then decide what type of mid-layers and extra layers you may need to keep you warm all day without overheating.

Accessories

When spending the day outside during the winter, you definitely want to have the right accessories to keep your extremities warm and protected from the cold. It is essential to have warm socks, in fact, we would recommend bringing a few pairs of ski socks with you so you can always be sure to have toasty warm toes. You won't regret having an extra pair - trust us! Next, you'll want a good pair of ski gloves that will keep your hands warm and still allow you to have good grip of your poles. Look for waterproof gloves that will protect you from the snow and cold all day long. For extra cold days, consider adding glove liners to really keep your fingers warm. A neck warmer, neck gaiter or balaclava will help to keep the icy wind from hitting your neck and face as you zip down the trails. Finally, don't forget to pack a good pair of ski or snowboard goggles to protect your eyes from the icy winds and keep your visibility optimal at all times.

Toiletries

Remember to bring all the essential toiletries with you when you travel. You'll need your toothbrush, toothpaste, soap, moisturizer...pretty much anything you use daily at home. Sunscreen and lip balm are key items to have on hand, apply both before heading out for the day. You may want to pack some pain killers or muscle rub in case you feel sore after your day on the slopes. If you are a light sleeper, it may be a good idea to throw in a pair of ear plugs in case the people you are with prefer to celebrate after a day of skiing while you just want to get some rest.
Pack it all up, and you're good to go!

Miscellaneous

You may find it useful to use packing cubes when packing for your ski trip. That way you know you have the right items for each part of your trip - skiing, lounging, sleeping, partying, etc.  If there is a pool or hot tub where you are staying, bring along a pair of flip flops so you can comfortably make your way to the water. And an external battery pack may come in handy if you need to power up on the go. Don't forget to have your health insurance card with you at all times just in case, and an extra credit card might also be a good idea. Before heading out, review your ski trip checklist to be sure you haven't forgotten anything. Once you're all set, get out there and have a great time on the slopes!
